Die Strassen von Ankh-Morpork (1993, mit Stephen Briggs, Zeichnung von Stephen Player) "'Es heißt, alle Straßen führen nach Ankh-Morpork, der größten Stadt auf der Scheibenwelt. Es stimmt nicht. Alle Straßen führen von Ankh-Morpork fort, doch ab und zu gehen manche Leute in die falsche Richtung' Ankh-Morpork! Stadt der tausend Überraschungen! Das ganze menschliche Leben spielt sich hier ab. Obwohl es manchmal recht schnell zu Ende geht, wenn es durch die falsche Gasse wandert. (Anmerkung: Während einige der
Original-Klappentexte von Terry Pratchett selbst verfaßt wurden, handelt es sich bei
den deutschen Klappentexten (so die deutsche Version überhaupt einen aufweist, sonst
wurde hier die englische stehengelassen) nicht etwa um Übersetzungen derselben,
sondern um neu verfaßte Texte des Übersetzers oder Verlegers.
Die Titelbilder stimmen bis auf die Beschriftung in den meisten Fällen mit denen der
britischen Ausgaben überein (meist von Josh Kirby gestaltet). Darum sind teils die
britischen Versionen abgebildet. Eine Abweichung ist z.B. "Das Erbe des Zauberers", wo
Heyne ein sehr merkwürdiges und unpassendes Bild von Ron (=Josh) Kirby ausgebuddelt
hat. In späteren Auflagen hat Heyne auch schonmal die Titelbilder untereinander
durcheinandergewürfelt (z.B. "Gevatter Tod" mit "MacBest"-Titel). Ein Sammelband (Die
Farben der Magie + Der Zauberhut) wurde von Heyne dann kreativerweise mit dem Titelbild
(auch von Josh Kirby), welches ursprünglich zu einem Buch von Robert Rankin ("The
Sprouts of Wrath") gehörte, versehen. Ein anderer Sammelband ("Die Scheibenwelt") hat
ein Cover, das Josh Kirby für die "Majipoor"-Serie gemalt hatte. Wenn man noch die
unsäglichen 'Werbeeinblendungen' (z.B. für Suppe) hinzunimmt, dann wundert es
auch eher weniger, daß Terry den Verlag gewechselt hat...)
